West End’s Leading Ladies
The West End has had many wonderful leading ladies. Right now there’s now a pool of female talent gracing the West End stage. Here are five ladies you need to see on stage.

Sheridan Smith made her West End debut earlier this when she landed the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. The show came to London in January 2010 after it proved a success on Broadway. Smith has shown audiences a completely different side to her in comparison to what fans may be used to seeing in TV shows like The Royle Family and Gavin and Stacy. Smith has wowed critics and audiences alike with her sparkly performance of the loveable homecoming queen turned Harvard law student. This is a must-see musical for fans of the film or just as a great girls night out.

Patina Miller is currently starring as Deloris Van Cartier in Sister Act the Musical at the London Palladium. Unknown on the West End stage before taking the part, she has made the role her own and put her stamp on Theatreland.  Sister Act is closing at The London Palladium to make way for The Wizard of Oz, which is opening in April next year. We can’t wait to see which role Miller decides to take next.

Summer Strallen has enjoyed much success on the London stage. She has played Maria in The Sound of Music taking over from How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria winner, Connie Fisher. Strallen is currently starring in the Phantom of the Opera sequel Love Never Dies at the Adelphi Theatre  as Meg Giry. Strallen comes from a theatrical background and was destined for musical success: her sister Scarlett Strallen is another West End leading lady and Bonnie Langford is her aunt.

Kerry Ellis is no stranger to the West End stage. A favourite for many theatre fans, she has enjoyed a great career. Ellis has played Elphaba in Wicked, Fantine in Les Misrables, Meat in We Will Rock You and as of March this year, she took over from Jodie Prenger as Nancy in Oliver! Book a London theatre break to see her shine on stage.

Sweet Charity has just opened in the West End with Tamzin Outhwaite cast as leading lady, Charity Hope Valentine. The former EastEnders actress has had rave reviews and showcased her skills on Over the Rainbow with a performance of If They Could See Me Now. She has clearly made the role of Charity her own and performed it brilliantly. See Outhwaite perform in Sweet Charity as part of your next London theatre break.

All of these leading ladies are on stage now in the West End, so be sure you don’t miss out on seeing them and book your theatre break in London.
