Effective communication

Effective communication skills are the first and the most important thing that you should take care of at work. Be friendly with the people in different departments irrespective of their positions. Make sure to be courteous in communicating with others. The words “Thank You” and “Sorry” shows appreciation and respect towards others. Also make a habit of saying the words like “would you please make this document for me…” instead of saying “make this document for me…” Be clear in whatever you say so that your co-workers understand you better.

Interesting topics
Always have something interesting to talk about among your colleagues. Because you cannot always hold a person’s interest if you do not have something interesting to say. Try to stick to the topics on which you know something about, this way you will always appear smarter. Also remember to ask only those questions to which you know the answers very well and then follow other person’s answer with a clarification to your own answer. You can also become an interesting communicator by reading the daily news paper. If you are in an industrial sector, must read industry literature so that you are well aware of what is going on.

Listen carefully
Listen carefully to what others are saying and show interest in the conversation. Showing interest in the conversation shows respect and admiration towards them. Make yourself away from any office gossips. Gossiping shows unprofessionalism. Gossipers will only drag you down to their level, so as far as possible make distance with them.

Think positive
Have a positive mindset in whatever you do. This will show your confident professional image. Always keep the smile on your face while at work.

Have patience
Do not get angry and raise your voice. This will not help you out in a long reign. If you feel angry on some words being uttered by your fellow workers, simply say, “Why you have said like this”.

Complimenting co-workers
Give compliments for his or her better work or for a new dress. Stop finding faults in other co-workers and recognize their good ones. Always try being an ally. Give support to your colleague’s in accomplishing his or her mission. Welcome the ideas or solutions provided by your colleagues. If there is any a conflict or disputes among your team members, try to resolve it at your earliest.

Strong vocabulary
To become smarter among all your fellow workers you should enrich your vocabulary. Get help from a dictionary each day and choose some words to learn. A good vocabulary uses can impress others, but be sure to use the right word at right time. Because you might impress people with a better vocabulary, but if you use some words incorrectly, it will lower their opinion of your intelligence. Expand your vocabulary knowledge, and use words when you are very sure about its usage.

Keep promises
Do not break promises. If you promise someone, they depend upon you. Breaking promises can only reflect bad image of you among your colleagues and bosses.

Organize and prioritize your tasks
Are you well organized at your work place? Be organized by prioritizing your tasks, because you will not able to stay in the business or office for long with chaos and confusion around you. Spend at least 5 to 10 minutes every morning to prioritize your daily tasks and start your day with the most important one.

Dress code
Your dress also shows your outer smartness. Dress well and appropriate, you will surely get attention from your fellow workers.

Relax
If you are too busy for few weeks, take a break from the office in the next week. Taking breaks will only increase your productivity. Even half an hour break in the afternoon after a very busy schedule will help you giving new freshness. Plan your weekly routine ahead.  Enjoy your work like a hobby.

Always try to think differently and work together with you colleagues with your creative ideas.  This will help you to get more productive results from your team members or colleagues.
