Do you remember those days when boating used to be a form of recreation and so was fishing, when fathers used to take their kids out for some recreation to a nearby lake and spend some quality family time together. Well, it looks like this kind of recreation is gone and has been replaced by some video games and some texting and some listening to music on the iPod. The fear that more and more youngsters are drifting away from taking up boating or fishing as a sport or
recreation as outdoor activities has been recognized by the RBFF (The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation) who have taken it upon themselves to launch campaigns of their own on a national level to spread awareness.
Campaigns that they have begun such as the Take Me Fishing Campaign are ones that are meant to encourage youngsters to take up fishing and boating as recreation again and be more interested in such outdoor activities as these. The campaign involves distributing helpful information and content through their sites etc. This year, the RBFF has also organized the Take Me Fishing Campaign to visit the Miami boat Show and the Bassmaster Classic in the months of February where they can further spread their message of awareness about boating and angling.
For this reason the RBFF has also arranged for ESPN’s Jose Webeje and Aaron McAlexander to join them when they visit these shows so that they can attract the youngsters and thus spread awareness among them about boating and fishing as a means of recreation, and a much healthier form of recreation as compared to some of the other habits that these children are developing. The RBFF’s aim is to get the next generation involved in such activities before it is too late to get them interested.
