Like adult psychology there is a branch or field of studies which is called child psychology as well. This seeks to trace the human and behavioral patterns of a child side by side his mental and physical development. It is very important to keep track of the way the mind of a child is developing and what tendencies he or she is leaning towards.

This also goes a long way in tracing the mental health of a child. It helps to understand and gauge what a child may be feeling at some point. To a large extent the mental health of a child is ignored as compared to adult mental health. That is why child psychology has another name which is Child Development.

The tracing starts from the time a child is born and goes on through his or her infancy, childhood and so on. It is more difficult to track a child's mental health than that of an adult as a child will find it more difficult to articulate what exactly is bothering him or her at that particular moment.
